AHHAA workshops invite both children and adults on a scientific adventure. From bacteria and soda labs to dissecting an eye, all done your own hands!

Occasionally we still wonder why soap washes our hands clean? Or why are there bubbles in the lemonade? How do rockets actually take off? Are all bacteria bad? What is blood pressure?

AHHAA workshops are an exciting way to immerse yourself in the world of science and experience it through a magnifying glass. The workshop programme is designed to stimulate all five senses!

Intriguing discoveries, exciting tests, explosive experiments and knowledge-based explanations are just part of what AHHAA workshops have to offer.

Aha, Germs!

Try your hand as a real microbiologist! Each participant can test the surfaces of their choice to make sure that the area is clean or find out that the area has an exciting life of microorganisms.

Tangerine DNA

DNA, the genetic code, is the "recipe" of all living organisms. Did you know plants and fruits also have DNA? As Christmas approaches, we'll take a look of the genetic side of a tangerine, extract its DNA and look at it with our own eyes!

Christmas Ice Cream

From 01.12.2025 Until 04.01.2026

Should you only eat ice cream in summer? Definitely not! In this workshop we'll make an icy treat and add delicious Christmas spices to make it more festive.

Christmas Chocolate

Get to know the colourful history of the world's most beloved sweet and make your own delicious Christmas chocolate. And then, of course, eat it!

Vegetable Chemistry

Why are vegetables different colors? How can we extract those colors from the veggies? How can I do chemistry with vegetables? In the Vegetable Chemistry workshop, we’ll answer exactly these burning questions!

Make a nice and tasty Christmas treat for your birds! Hang it up and take a secret peek at the feathery friends who come to feast.

Caffeine Crystals

Extract caffeine from caffeine pills, create marvellous crystals and observe them under the microscope.

Synthesis of Smell

What do household chemistry and sweets have in common? Let's find out which chemicals make both great cleaning products and sweet smells. In the workshop, we'll create our own fragrances.

Soda Lab

Explore the history of this fascinating bubbling drink, and make some of your own as well! You'll also find out where soda comes from and how bubbles get in soft drinks.

Photo Printing

We're going back to a time when there was no iPhone and pictures didn't come from a printer. Let's manually print images using old-fashioned techniques.

Rocket Launching

What makes rockets fly? What should a good rocket look like? In this workshop, we will learn how to get a rocket airborne with simple effort and what exactly you need to do it. We'll design our own rocket and fly it VERY high!

Soap Laboratory

Why do we need soap to get bubbles and how did people make soap in the past? You'll soon find out, and make your own soap - wonderfully bubbly and well-scented.

Eye Surgery

Find out how our eyes really work and who has the largest eyes in the world. In the end of the workshop, you can grab a scalpel and get a unique glance inside a real eye.

Christmas Soap Laboratory

Why can't gingerbread smell and other Christmas scents last forever? In this workshop, we'll put the Christmas scents inside a soap. You can give it to your friend as a gift, or enjoy the lasting festive emotions yourself!

Developing a Christmas card

From 01.12.2025 Until 04.01.2026

Let's travel back to a time when there was no iPhone and pictures didn't come from a printer. Let's try the old-fashioned cyan-blue print technique and create a beautiful Christmas card using the method. All participants will receive a blue and white Christmas card created with chemicals, on which to write warm Christmas wishes.

Euler's Mathematical Christmas Ornament

In this workshop, let's get into the Christmas spirit with maths! We will connect art and science and explore beautiful geometric shapes, plus Leonhard Euler's role in mathematics. Come make a beautiful Christmas ornament and discover mathematics!
